Sight Seeing in Murcia
On the Spanish Coast, Murcia is a beautiful destination for sightseeing as well as sunbathing. With Jet2.com's cheap flights to Murcia you can visit a range of great places from the relaxing Costa Calida ("the warm coast"), with beautiful sandy beaches to Mar Menor. This is the worlds' largest salt-water lagoon and said to be 5 degrees warmer than the sea! There are many fantastic watersports to try out here including sailing and windsurfing. If watersports don't 'float your boat' then why not try out the cycling... or head for the bar!!
Murcia is a great mix of the old and new with a modern city full of shops, cafes and bars, La Traperia has some of the best stores if you fancy some holiday shopping as well as a range of fantastic restaurants to eat out in the evening. Try your luck at Murcia's Casino also found along this main street. A popular place to visit is the 18th century square La Glorieta situated in the centre of Murcia and the magnificent architecture of the Cathedral of Santa Maria always attracts visitors. The Museum de la Ciudad featuring historical artifacts of Murcia is worth a visit, as is the Museo de la Ciencia y el Agua which has interactive exhibits.
Further a field is La Manga, a trendy resort which lies only 20 minutes away from the airport. This is where sport stars and sun seekers come together in one complex, which is so big it is to be compared in size with Monaco! La Manga has three world class golf courses, a tennis centre, not to name the shops and other recreational facilities... all of this in the surrounds of palm trees... a little piece of heaven!!
Romantic Breaks in Murcia
Murcia is the perfect destination for a relaxing holiday in the sun with your loved one. Book a cheap flight with Jet2.com and look forward to spend your days lazing on the golden sands of one of Murcia's glorious beaches or wandering around the historical old square La Glorieta, stopping off for an ice cream at one of the parlours on La Traperia. In the evening take a romantic stroll alongside the beach which is lit up beautifully at night especially at Christmas time.
Murcia has a lot of good restaurants that cater for all tastes and if it's typical Spanish cuisine you are looking for then stews, salads, roasted meat, rice, and of course great seafood galore can be found in restaurants lining the coast. Wash this down with a carafe or three of the reputedly high quality Murcian wine and you are all set for the perfect holiday!! For a luxurious romantic meal then try eating at the Hotel Rincon de Pepe for delicious traditional cuisine and sweet red pudding wine, Monastrell, to wash it down.
Only 20 minutes from Murcia airport is the exclusive resort of La Manga, where sport stars and sun seekers alike flock to frequent the trendy bars and restaurants. With great beaches and plenty of terrace bars this is the perfect place to grab a cocktail and do a bit of people watching until the sun goes down.
Fun Seekers in Murcia
Beautiful sandy beaches, the worlds' largest salt-water lagoon, and waterports like sailing and windsurfing make Murcia a fun destination for a holiday in the sun! Castillicos Beach is popular with young people whether you want to bask in the sun or get involved in watersports at the nearby harbour of Tomas Mestre.
Murcia is a fairly relaxed destination but still has it's fair share of nightlife. As a university town, it has plenty of bars and pubs with the best ones found around the University in the Barrio de la Merced area. There are a few nightclubs where you can dance till you drop like Lennons playing the best in recent dance tunes, and Rockfellers where you can ride the mechanical bull! The Spanish start their nights out late though so don't expect the clubs to fill up till after midnight! KM Disco Garden is Murcia's main club with a huge capacity and 12 bars, with the best garden area to chill out in with a drink or two during the hot evenings! For a night out with a difference try catch a dinner show at Murcia Palace where you will be served with a delicious 4 course meal while enjoying a spectacular show!
Family Fun in Murcia
Murcia makes a great family holiday destination with good weather all year round and safe beaches where the kids can enjoy making sandcastles and paddling in the sea whilst Mum and Dad have a well-earned rest on the sun loungers with a cocktail in hand! Bolnuevo Beach with calm waters and soft golden sands is popular with families and has all the necessary amenities such as a snack bar and picnic area and you can also hire out water sports equipment if you want to do something a little more energetic. Nares Beach gets a bit busier than Bolnuevo in the summer but also has calm waters making it ideal for children.
El Castillo (The Castle) is a fun place for the whole family to visit, dating back to the 13th Century you can have amazing views across Murcia from the castle which often holds interactive workshops for children in the summer months.

Customer Comments for Murcia
"We recently went to Murcia for the first time this May Bank Holiday weekend, which was a perfect time to go as a couple: because it wasn't high-season, the atmosphere was very relaxed but with still plenty to do...
Two restaurants I would recommend are Puccini's: an Italian chain with very tasty food (there are 2 along the Orihuela Costa), and Gandhi; a very authentic & reasonably priced Indian restaurant. We also had a round of golf at Las Ramblas, also on the Orihuela Costa, which had beautiful scenery and impeccable greens - worth a visit for the avid golfer!"
